Guaranteed Payment for Sellers

  • For Dealer Sellers: The auction is a neutral trading floor that
guarantees the consignor will receive payment from the
winning bidder. The Manheim Heavy Truck & Equipment
Auctions location pays the consignor for their vehicles when
the documentation is turned in, even if the buyer has not yet
paid. The consignor is not responsible for collecting the
money, nor do they have the risk of taking bad checks.
  • For Non-Dealer Sellers: The auction is a neutral trading floor
where Manheim brings buyers and sellers together. The buyer
puts down a deposit, which is evenly split between the auction
and the seller, in case of non-payment (which is rare but still a
possibility). Manheim typically has verbal agreements with
sellers that if a unit sells to a buyer and payment is not
collected, then the unit becomes a no-sale. In that case the
Manheim location will contact the second-place bidder to see
if he/she would like to purchase the unit. The consignor is not
responsible for collecting the money, nor does he/she have the
    risk of taking bad checks.
