Manheim Supports Women in Trucking

While trucking has long been a male-dominated profession, an increasing number of women have become truck drivers over the past few decades.
This trend has arisen for many reasons. Trucks have become more comfortable and easier to operate. Highways and truck stops have become safer. Opportunities for female owner-operators have grown, with many women following in the footsteps of their fathers and grandfathers. It’s not too surprising that women pursing careers trucking and logistics often encounter unique challenges not encountered by their male colleagues.
Manheim Specialty recently joined Women in Trucking, an association which exists to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. Open to both women and men, Women in Trucking is a regular presence at industry events and offers its members multiple resources, such as a monthly newsletter. Check out WIT’s Secrets to Success, a collection of writings by industry experts on a number of topics relevant to over the road drivers.
For our part, Manheim Specialty strives to provide owner-operators with convenient and powerful options for buying and selling trucks, both in-lane and online. We encourage all truckers to stop by an auction in person – they are great opportunities to meet new people and reconnect with friends and former colleagues. And look for us at future Women in Trucking events – we are excited to be a part of such a great organization!
